Hop to the Top anchor name = #macplay Macplay

MacPlay was the name used by a series of two American publishers of Macintosh computer games. MacPlay was founded in the early 1990s as a division of Interplay Entertainment. It was led by producer Bill Dugan. During this period, MacPlay published notable games including Wolfenstein 3DOut of this World, the Alone in the Dark series, and the Descent series. Due to the 1990s decline in the Mac market, Interplay exited the Macintosh games market and abandoned the MacPlay division in 1997. In 2000, United Developers LLC licensed the MacPlay brand name from Interplay for use as the name of a wholly owned subsidiary corporation. Ron Dimant became CEO of this new incarnation of MacPlay, which was headquartered in Dallas, TX. In the early 2000s, MacPlay published two lines of games- regular games and "value" games. Notable games published during this period included Baldur's Gate IIMajesty: The Fantasy Kingdom Sim, and the first two games in the Fallout series. From November 2004 - 2008, the MacPlay.com domain was used as a software retail outlet. In 2008, the MacPlay.com domain was changed to redirect to MumboJumbo, itself a subsidiary of United Developers founded by MacPlay CEO Ron Dimant and located in Dallas, TX. MacPlay re-launched as a publisher of Macintosh computer games on the Mac App Store. The company in April, 2015 released Pillars of Eternity on the Mac App Store.  Hop to the Top anchor name = #mad-doc-software-llc Mad Doc Software LLC now rockstar new england, inc.

Rockstar New England, Inc. (formerly Mad Doc Software, LLC) is an American video game developer based in the Ballardvale village within Andover, Massachusetts. The company was founded as Mad Doc Software in November 1999, by Dr. Ian Lane Davis, formerly of Activision. The company started out assisting Activision with the finalization of their Star Trek: Armada and Call to Power IIgames, and went on to lead the development on Star Trek: Armada II. Alongside multiple smaller projects, such as completing the cancelled Jane's Attack Squadron from defunct Looking Glass Studios, Mad Doc Software achieved international recognition through the Empire Earth series, which it took over from Stainless Steel Studios, and the 2006 game Star Trek: Legacy. Only the final Empire Earth installment, Empire Earth III, would be critically panned, leading both Mad Doc Software and the series' publisher, Sierra Entertainment, to retreat from the franchise. Mad Doc Software teamed up with Rockstar Games to develop a remaster of Rockstar Vancouver's BullyBully: Scholarship Edition, which saw widespread success. Following the release, in April 2008, Rockstar Games' parent company, Take-Two Interactive, announced that they had acquired Mad Doc Software. As part of the agreement, Mad Doc Software became part of the Rockstar Games studio umbrella, and was renamed Rockstar New England. The new company has since acted out minor roles, taking over a part of the porting duties for Grand Theft Auto IV's Microsoft Windows version, alongside Rockstar Toronto, and assisting other studios on the development of Rockstar Games-published titles, such as Red Dead Redemption (2010), L.A. Noire (2011), Max Payne 3 (2012) and Grand Theft Auto V (2013).

MAME (originally an acronym of Multiple Arcade Machine Emulator) is a free and open source emulator designed to recreate the hardware of arcade game systems in software on modern personal computers and other platforms. The intention is to preserve gaming history by preventing vintage games from being lost or forgotten.  Hop to the Top anchor name = #mass-media-inc Mass Media Inc.

Mass Media Games is currently comprised of an extremely talented group of dedicated and experienced individuals who have been in the entertainment software design and development industry since the beginning. We have done every type of game, from arcade to shooters, mini-games to space operas, and mysteries to sports and designed more than 175 mini-games for the Muppets, Shrek, SpongeBob, Pac-Man, Do Unto Others!, Midway 1-3 and the HotZone. We have taken on projects that nobody would touch and successfully ported titles that required the kind of skill that takes decades of experience to obtain. Porting StarCraft from the PC to the Nintendo 64 was a nearly absurd undertaking and the cartridges sold out in a matter of weeks. We literally sucked assembly code out of arcade machine ROM cartridges and painstakingly re-engineered identical code from scratch for the Namco collections. We dug deep into LISP/GOAL (of all things) to re-program the three Jak & Daxter games (while adding stereoscopic 3D support) for the PS3 from the one known existing copy of running code on a dusty Naughty Dog PC. These are monumental tasks that were completed by our crack team of seasoned veterans that are unmatched in this industry. We have the Skills. We have the Brains. And, we have the Drive and Focus to take on any task in the known universe. We've even had one of our original games featured on the cover of Time Magazine! Let us help you build the future one line of code at a time. Mass Media Games, Inc. is an American video game developer based in Moorpark, California. The current focus of the company is to develop original material for Sony platforms. Mass Media began in the 1980s at Cinemaware. In 1991, they formed a production unit called Philips P.O.V. Entertainment Group. Mass Media left Philips in 1995 and the company became an exclusive developer for Time Warner Interactive. After Time Warner halted their interactive division, Mass Media became an independent developer. It was acquired by THQ in February 2007 who closed the studio in November 2008. The company started back up immediately, focusing on developing for the Sony platforms, including the PlayStation 3. On the PlayStation 3, they developed content and spaces for its social gaming network PlayStation Homeincluding the games The Midway, The Midway 2, and The Midway 3 which were three game spaces with ten mini-games in each with ten rewards per mini-game. The Green Ticket, used to play the games in the three Midways, was consistently the best selling item in PS Home. Mass Media has also continued to develop game engine technology for PlayStation 3 and other platforms. Notably this includes one of the first non-Sony PlayStation 3 implementations of fully SPU based GPU rendering command generation, significantly reducing rendering overhead on the main CPU (used in Saints Row 2 and subsequent PS3 titles).

Midway Games Inc. (formerly Midway Manufacturing and Midway) was an American video game developer and publisher. Midway's franchises included Mortal KombatRampageSpy HunterNBA JamCruis'n, and NFL Blitz. Midway also acquired the rights to video games that were originally developed by Williams Electronics and Atari Games, such as DefenderJoustRobotron 2084Gauntlet, and the Rush series. The company's predecessor Midway Manufacturing was founded in 1958, as an amusement game manufacturer. In 1973 it moved into the interactive entertainment industry, developing and publishingarcade video games. The company scored its first mainstream hit with the U.S. distribution of Space Invaders in 1978. Midway was purchased and re-incorporated in 1988 by WMS Industries Inc. After years as a leader in the arcade segment, Midway moved into the growing home video game market beginning in 1996, the same year that it made its initial public offering of stock. In 1998 WMS spun off its remaining shares of Midway. Midway was ranked the fourth largest-selling video game publisher in 2000. After 2000, Midway continued to develop and publish video games for home and handheld video game machines, but it experienced large annual net losses and engaged in a series of stock and debt offerings and other financings and borrowings. Sumner Redstone, the head of Viacom/CBS Corporation, increased his stake in Midway from about 15%, in 1998, to about 87% by the end of 2007. In December 2008, Redstone sold all his stock and $70 million of Midway debt to Mark Thomas, a private investor, for $100,000. In February 2009, Midway Games filed in Delaware for bankruptcy. Warner Bros. purchased most of Midway's assets (including Mortal Kombat), and Midway settled with Mark Thomas to relinquish his Midway stock and debt. The U.S. District Court in Chicago dismissed a lawsuit alleging that former officers of Midway misled shareholders while selling their own stock. In 2010, the bankruptcy court dismissed claims against Redstone concerning his sale of the company to Thomas and approved Midway's plan of liquidation. Midway terminated the public registration of its securities in June 2010.
